Investment philosophy

E&G invests in a combination of shareholders capital, and, if necessary, debt raised from our trusted partners among international financial institutions, which enables us to invest with a long-term vision.

The nature of our capital enables us to focus solely on identifying the best ideas, allocating sufficient time and resources to conduct thorough due diligence, and responding to arising opportunities swiftly. We invest for full market cycles, leveraging knowledge and patience to fully participate in the success of our portfolio companies.

In our selection process we primarily look for predictable cash flows, assets with reliable operating history with positive operating characteristics, conservative regulatory and capital structures.

Geography

Energy

The energy transition has changed from an idea to a fact, fueled both by governmental regulation, public spending and major changes in company policies.

In the transport and energy sector the transition from petroleum based fuels to more sustainable alternatives will require significant investment and tremendous recourses for both manufacturing and infrastructure. Coupled with CAPEX constrains in recent years, in our view capacity to meet future demands may not be readily available. Demand recovery and relative scarcity will drive energy and commodity prices higher for the foreseeable future. We are ready and positioned to provide those recourses to the market.

We also understand commodity equity exposure as a way to hedge expected inflation.

Natural resources

Everything a society needs is either harvested or mined.

Continued economic and population growth drives demand. With our investment we seek to create positive economic impact and long-term value for our shareholders and the communities in which we invest. We also see the investment in natural resources and precious metals in particular as a good portfolio diversifier, a hedge against inflationary risks and an extra measure of security in a volatile geo-political environment.

Infrastructure and real estate

We see infrastructure and real estate investments as a part of our focus on predictable cash flow and reliability. We concentrate our infrastructure investments on our key knowledge field of energy, natural gas storage and transportation in particular. In real estate we spotlight high end real estate in communities that we feel a strong connection with.

Public and regulatory pressure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is rising globally. Emission reduction policies being expected to be put in place soon in a number countries. Many of those policies will target the commodity and industrial sector. In future production, CO2 emission will be given a negative value and the carbon footprint will become an economic differentiator.
In our industrial investments we strategically choose solutions that offer pathways to CO2 abatement, for example in form of carbon free or at least less carbon intensive technologies (“green” technologies) and carbon capture (in form of CCS or CCU) for existing technological solutions.

Ethics

We see safety and environmental sustainability as a primary consideration for every investment in the spirit of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and view it as the responsibility of each and every member of staff at E&G to adhere to this standards. We support this trough continuous training of our staff. We are also committed to the prevention of environmental and biodiversity impact of our actions while encouraging the efficient use of natural resources.
